“Focusing on the wrong things"

Lately I have been thinking a lot on what consumes my minds time. Specifically when I am consumed with things that I cannot or face insurmountable barriers too. Worry # It seems we have a natural tendency to worry. One of the largest complaints about the modern internet is the incessant negativity. Why is that? The same trends can be found in my day to day. I often find myself chasing goods to try to find panacea for some problem.

“Trying a post from iOS."

Can I post easily enough from my phone? # I would enjoy being able to write something small without being tethered to my desk. I’m trying a simple markdown editor from my iPhone and Working Copy. Let’s see if this simple post can make it online via GitHub actions. Typing on here is of course sub-optimal but it’s not so bad. The quick text corrections coupled with the cuddly dog outweigh the slow speed.

Personal Knowledge Managers # I have a desire to try out one of the many knowledge managers. Obsidian Roam Notion to try and organize my notes and todos and my mind in general. I’ve developed a good habit over this past year of journaling. Even before this I’ve kept a “Wiki” or at least repository of data that I sync between my computers with GIT but I have a few issues.

20230923 Nixos

Continue to improve the deck # One area the steamdeck sketches me out is “security”. Not so much financial information with the store but rather the security of the data on the desktop. The only thing protecting the desktop applications is a pin number. While not the end of the world I keep a pretty sensitive todo list and information repository of files on most computers. I wouldn’t be in any trouble per say if someone gained access to it, but I’d prefer they not.

20230922 Light in Pixel Art

Pixel art games # So I’ve not written about this before but I’m hugely enamored with video games created with a pixel art style today. While I’m not against “big” games I do think its important to keep games accessible. I also really appreciate the detailed artwork and methods. The feelz # As of late one of the methods I’ve been appreciating the most is the use of light. In the age of ray tracing GPU’s its odd to do a study on pixelated lighting but here we are.
